At City of Hope, miracles don’t just happen in the labs or the hospital rooms, they happen every day through people like you. The City of Hope Blood Donor Center quietly fuels one of the most vital lifelines in modern medicine: the steady, selfless act of giving blood and platelets.

Each year, more than 37,000 units of blood and platelets are needed to help patients, many of whom are fighting cancer, survive their treatments. Every single drop comes from volunteers. Family members, friends, neighbors, and complete strangers step up, roll up their sleeves, and give what money can’t buy: time, compassion, and a second chance at life.

"Blood donations are truly the gift of life” the center reminds visitors. For those undergoing chemotherapy or bone marrow transplants, transfusions aren’t optional, they’re lifesaving. And unlike other forms of aid, there’s no substitute for human blood. It has to come from someone willing to give.

🏥 Where and When to Donate

The City of Hope Blood Donor Center is located on the Duarte campus and welcomes both walk-ins and scheduled appointments. Hours are designed to fit around busy lives:

Monday & Tuesday: 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Thursday – Saturday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Second Sunday of each month: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
