📢 Duarte Residents: Trash & Recycling Rates Changing in 2026

🗑️ What’s Changing

• Residential service (one 90-gallon trash cart, one 60-gallon recycling cart, and one 60-gallon green waste cart) will increase by $1.28 per month, going from $38.51 to $39.79.

• Commercial customers using a standard 3-yard bin with weekly pickup will see monthly rates increase from $241.26 to $248.05.

• Street sweeping fees will also rise slightly:

  • Residential: $2.33 → $2.39 per month

  • Commercial: $4.49 → $4.63 per month

📈 Why the Increase?

The rate adjustment is tied to Duarte’s contract with Burrtec Waste Services, which includes a required annual review. A major factor this year is California Senate Bill 1383, a statewide mandate that expands organic waste recycling and food recovery programs. These added requirements increase processing and disposal costs, particularly for green waste.

🏆 Still Competitive Regionally

Even with the increase, Duarte’s trash and recycling rates remain among the lowest one-third of cities surveyed in the San Gabriel Valley, a positive note for both residents and local businesses.

🌳 What’s Included

Residents will continue to receive:

• Trash, recycling, and organics collection

• Street sweeping services

• Two free community cleanup events each year, allowing residents to dispose of bulky items responsibly
