Sierra Madre Rallies for Mount Wilson Trail Race Recovery Run |
The iconic annual race shifts to an inspiring 'MWT 5K Trail Recovery Run' on October 4, 2025, calling on the San Gabriel Valley to help rebuild beloved local trails. |
This year's Mount Wilson Trail Race is more than a competition; it's a powerful community mission.
On Saturday, October 4, 2025, Sierra Madre will host the special “MWT 5K Trail Recovery Run,” transforming the beloved annual event into a fundraiser for vital trail restoration.
The focus is a direct response to damage that has kept local trails closed.
Instead of its usual rugged mountain path, the race will begin and end in downtown’s charming Kersting Court, creating a unique, accessible event for all ages and skill levels.
This reimagined course allows participants to see the trailheads for the Mount Wilson and Bailey Canyon Trails, highlighting the urgent need for repairs.
All proceeds and additional donations will benefit the Donat e Fletcher Trail Maintenance Fund, which supplies the all-volunteer crews working to make the trails safe for public use again.
The event is a true family affair, inviting runners from across the San Gabriel Valley, including Pasadena, Monrovia, Arcadia, and Duarte.
A free Kids Fun Run will kick off before the main event, with distances tailored for different age groups, making it a perfect outing for families.
All paid 5K participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and goodie bag, while the young racers get a shirt and a finisher's ribbon.
Race day packet pick‑up begins at 6:00 a.m. in Kersting Court.
Every registration is a step toward reclaiming these natural treasures for future generations.
By joining the run, participants are not just racing; they are actively helping to fund the crucial **trail maintenance** needed to reopen these iconic paths.
